Learning to give and receive comfort and care is one of the ultimate gifts of being alive.
My parents died last year, within 40 days of each other, and my world turned upside down. Seemingly overnight, I went from taking care of the people who raised me to feeling a huge void in my life.
I know many of you have also had your lives completely upended by the pandemic. I hope you find comfort, as I have, in the wisdom, humor, and resilience offered by the incredible people featured in our first theme: Solace.
We’re going to explore how coming to terms with mortality can invite us to rethink care, the many dimensions of loss and grief, and how we can be kinder to others and ourselves.
We’ll hear about the courage it takes to listen to what a person truly wants, the dreams of the dying and the comfort they can provide, embracing change, the power of food to console and connect, and how being close to death can bring us closer to life.
We’ll also discover how far humor and love can carry us.
Enjoy.
