Yoko Sen

Yoko Sen is an ambient electronic musician and sound artist, and the founder of Sen Sound, a social enterprise working to transform the sound environment of hospitals. After a hospital stay in which she was surrounded by alarms and beeps, she began asking what sound people would want to hear at the end of their lives, and turned that question into a design practice.

Her work has taken her into partnerships with hospitals, medical device makers and design schools, and includes installations that let clinicians and patients experience the sonic environment of a hospital room from the patient's side of it. She has been a fellow at Halcyon Incubator and an artist-in-residence with several health systems.
