Sonali Wilborn, MD

Sonali Wilborn, MD, MBA, HMDC is a hospice and palliative medicine physician and the vice president of hospice services and hospice chief medical officer at VNS Health in New York, where she works to remove the practical barriers that keep patients from reaching hospice care in time. She is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine and certified as a hospice medical director.

At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, as chief medical officer of Heart of Hospice, she and her team built the first inpatient hospice unit for patients with Covid-19 — standing it up in eight days — so that people dying of the virus would not have to die alone while keeping families and caregivers safe. She told that story on the End Well stage in 2020 in conversation with Matt Richtel.

She has also served as chief clinical officer for GAPS Health, a physician-led organization supporting providers who care for frail, elderly and chronically ill patients.
