Norman Lear

Norman Lear was a television writer and producer whose series, among them All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, The Jeffersons and One Day at a Time, brought race, class, politics and mortality into American prime time for the first time. He was a World War II combat veteran and the founder of People for the American Way.

He continued producing into his late nineties and spoke frequently about aging, curiosity and what he called the two most important words in the language: over, and next. He died on December 5, 2023, at 101.
