Dr. Pamela S. Hinds

Pamela Hinds is a nurse scientist and the executive director of nursing science, professional practice and quality outcomes at Children's National Hospital, and a professor of pediatrics at George Washington University. Her research centers on the experiences of children and adolescents with cancer, particularly how young patients participate in decisions about their own care at the end of life.

Her studies have documented that seriously ill children can and do express clear preferences, and have shaped how clinicians include them in those conversations.
