Registered Nurse and Death Doula

Amanda Lin Carr was a nurse, death doula, educator, and founder of Changing the Face of Dying, which she established in 2015. Her work championed honest, compassionate communication about serious illness and dying, grounded in the belief that truthful information gives patients the opportunity to make choices that reflect their values. She encouraged people to consider their end-of-life wishes and share them with loved ones, and wrote movingly about the relationship between love and grief. Amanda died in December 2019 at age 41.
