Rebecca Soffer and her partner founded Modern Loss so they and others could share the full and candid experience of grieving. What she learned in the process is that speaking about grief is a universal experience that can unite people no matter their backgrounds or beliefs.

Rebecca Soffer is Co-Founder/CEO of Modern Loss, a digital and IRL forum for loss and mourning within a contemporary context. She is co-author of Modern Loss: Candid Conversation About Grief. Beginners Welcome. She has been published in The New York Times, Marie Claire, and Refinery29, and has spoken on loss and resilience at Amazon, HBO, and Kripalu. Rebecca is a former producer for The Colbert Report, where she accompanied Stephen Colbert on his quest to meet all 435 U.S. Representatives, and holds a master’s in journalism from Columbia University.
