Sunita Puri, MD

Sunita Puri is a palliative medicine physician and writer, and the author of the memoir That Good Night: Life and Medicine in the Eleventh Hour. She directs a hospice and palliative medicine fellowship program and teaches narrative medicine, writing frequently for The New Yorker and The New York Times on mortality, medical training and the moral life of doctors.

The daughter of an anesthesiologist mother who emigrated from India, she has written about the way her family's spiritual inheritance shapes her practice at the bedside, and about the distance between what medicine can do and what patients actually want.
